RV @ButlerMSoccer Defeats IUPUI with Strong Second Half

INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler men's soccer team defeated cross-town opponent IUPUI in a non-conference match by the final score of 4-1. The (rv) Bulldogs (7-3-1) scored first, but the Jaguars (1-5-5) answered, and the score was level at the half. In the second half, Butler netted three and stymied the IUPUI attack, ending the game with a three-goal advantage.
 
Key Moments
  • 29' | Palmer Ault draws a foul just outside of the penalty area. Wilmer Cabrera, Jr. strikes the free kick just inside the right post putting Butler up, 1-0.
  • 45' | IUPUI's Fernando Borges send a corner kick to the six. Josemir Gomez leaps for a header that goes directly into the right side of the goal, leveling the score, 1-1.

  • 51' | DJ Hooks steals an IUPUI pass and quickly finds Palmer Ault inside. Ault sends it back to Hooks on the give-and-go, and Hooks slides it to the left of the keeper and into the net for what will ultimately be the game-winning goal.     
  • 54' | Joost de Schutter takes a pass just outside of the box and sends it forward and left to Tommy Visser. Visser one-times a low cross along the six, and a charging Hooks punches it in for his second goal of the game. The Dawgs now lead, 3-1.
  • 61' | Hooks is fouled by the Jaguars' keeper at the end line. Griffin DeBolt takes the penalty kick and converts for the final goal of the match.
