INDIANAPOLIS – The Bulldogs won in dramatic fashion at San Diego on Saturday afternoon with
Luka Zurak drilling a 56-yard field goal with no time left on the game clock to give BU a 26-23 victory. The outcome goes down as just the sixth win over San Diego in program history!
The Bulldogs scored 13 fourth quarter points to complete the comeback win. Zurak's third field goal of the game came midway through the fourth and got Butler back within seven at 23-16. The game really got interesting after
Bret Bushka found
Luke Wooten in the back of the end zone for a 21-yard TD to tie the score at 23-23 and Zurak would deliver the final blow on the final play of the day with the 56-yard field goal.
Butler trailed USD 14-3 after the opening 15 minutes. Zurak hit from 33 in the first and 21 in the second to make the score 14-6. BU's lone TD of the first half came courtesy of
Kwesi Kyei-Fordjour. The redshirt-freshman's only carry of the day resulted in a five-yard score.
Butler's defense locked down the Toreros in the second half limiting the home team to just three points.
Nick Bafia led the Bulldogs with 10 tackles and
Austin Korba got in the backfield for a sack.

Bret Bushka and his top target
Luke Wooten. 14 of Bushka's 25 completions went to Wooten on Saturday. The BU QB passed for 268 yards and rushed for 41.
Joey Suchy matched Bushka's effort on the ground with 41 yards on nine carries.
AJ Deinhart was also heavily involved with eight rushes for 35 yards.
Wooten a one-man wrecking crew for BU on the outside. His 14 receptions resulted in 147 yards and a fourth quarter TD.
Tyler Adams grabbed three passes for 55 yards and
Jeremy Johnson also had three catches for 15 yards.
Butler's last win against San Diego before Saturday was back in 2009. Their last win in San Diego prior to today was in 2001!
With two weekends left in the 2022 regular season, Butler sits at second in the conference standings with a 5-1 record. They are 7-2 overall and will play at Drake next weekend.
