The Butler men's soccer team is preparing to travel to Boyds, Md. to face No. 17 Georgetown in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament. The match will take place on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 6:30 p.m at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

The No. 4 seed Bulldogs (10-5-3) are coming off a 3-0 win over No. 5 seed Providence in the tournament quarterfinals, while the No. 1 seed Hoyas (10-4-3) most recently defeated UConn, 1-0, in their final regular season contest.

The winner of this semifinal will move on to face the winner of No. 6 Creighton vs. No. 2 Seton Hall in the BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, Nov. 13.

  • Tommy Visser was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week (11/3) for his performance against No. 19 Xavier. In the closing seconds of the match, and with the Musketeers holding on to a 3-2 lead, Visser was on the back end of a Butler throw-in that was first redirected by Perrin Barnes and Palmer Ault. The redshirt-junior from Grand Rapids, Mich., got the final touch and scored with just 13 seconds remaining on the game clock. Visser totaled two of Butler's eight shots in the game.
     
  • Against No. 5 seed Providence:
  • Palmer Ault's goals were the ninth and tenth of his career.
  • DJ Hooks' goal was his sixth of the season and the seventh of his career.
  • Jack Streberger, with two assists in the match, now has four this season and nine for his career.
  • Wilmer Cabrera, Jr.'s assist was his fourth of the season and the twelfth of his career.
  • Gabriel Gjergji (10-5-3) made four saves in the match, producing his fifth solo shutout of the season. He now has 21.5 clean sheets in his career.
     
  • The Bulldogs are 1-1-1 against opponents ranked in the top-20, defeating No. 14 Marshall (1-0), tying No. 19 Xavier (3-3), and losing to No. 15 Indiana (1-2).
