INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler softball team used two pitchers to secure a 3-0 shutout over Purdue Fort Wayne in a non-conference game on Tuesday. The Bulldogs (23-14) scored in the first and third innings, and the Mastodons (7-31) had no answers at the plate.
 
How It Happened

• In the first inning, Lauren Fey singled and advanced to second on an Ellie Boyer walk. Fey then stole third and scored on a throwing error, putting Butler up, 1-0.
• In the third, Boyer doubled and, one batter later, Ella White hit a two-RBI home run to center field. The Bulldogs were up, 3-0, and that would end the scoring.

Butler Pitching
Karlie Ricketts (3.0 IP, H, 5 K) started in the circle for Butler. Alyssa Graves came in from the bullpen in the top of the fourth and was credited with the win. In 4.0 innings, she allowed only one hit while striking out six.
 
Bulldog Bits

• Ella White's home run was her fourth of the season and her second in as many games.
• Bri Avery was 3-for-3 in the game. Her two stolen bases give her 16 for the season and 36 for her career.
• Lauren Fey's stolen base was her 14th of the season and the 47th of her career. She is now tied for fifth (Erin Jackson, 2008-2011) on Butler's all-time list for career stolen bases.
• The win for Alyssa Graves was the 36th of her career, tying her fifth (Jennifer Chasteen, '07-'08, '10-'11) on Butler's all-time list.
• Karli Ricketts' five strikeouts puts her career total at 436, landing her in the fifth spot on Butler's all-time list.
