INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler softball team shut out cross-town opponent IUPUI on Tuesday by the score of 5-0. The Bulldogs (27-14) scored in the first and second innings while the Jaguars (10-32) were held to only two hits on the day.
How It Happened
- In the first inning, Loren Simpson (1-2, RBI) hit a sacrifice fly to left field which allowed Ellie Boyer (1-1) to score what would ultimately be the winning run.
- In the second, Ella White hit a bases-loaded triple to right field that pushed Sydney Carter (1-2, R, 2B), Emily Perrelle, and Paige Dorsett across the plate. One batter later, Monique Hoosen hit a second triple, allowing White to score and putting the Dawgs up, 5-0.
Butler Pitching
Karli Ricketts (13-4) started for Butler and picked up the win. In 4.0 innings, she allowed only one hit and two walks while striking out six.
Mackenzie Griman (H, K) pitched three scoreless innings in relief.
Bulldog Bits
- Today's win for Karli Ricketts was her 13th of the season and lands her in the tenth position on Butler's all-time list for wins in one season.
- Ella White's triple was her third of the season.
- Monique Hoosen's triple was her first of the season and the second of her career.
- Sydney Carter's double was her second of the season.
- Dani Deuschle, Madison Seigworth, and Alyssa Graves each recorded their first career at bat in the game. Graves hit a line drive to right field that was caught by the Jaguars.

Butler will host its final home games of the season, a BIG EAST series with Providence from April 29 – May 1. Game times are Friday at 3 pm, Saturday at 1 pm, and Sunday at 1 pm. Prior to Saturday's game, nine seniors will be recognized for their contributions to the Bulldogs program.
