INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler softball team lost a non-conference game on the road at Indiana State. The Bulldogs (19-13) took a brief early lead, but the Sycamores (18-14) used big second and third innings to surge ahead, eventually winning 11-5.
How It Happened
- Lauren Fey (2-4, R) gave Butler an early, 1-0, lead when she scored on an Indiana State error in the first inning.
- The Sycamores scored three runs in both the second and the third to lead, 6-1, going into the fourth.
- Paige Dorsett (2-4, 2 RBI, R, HR) hit a home run in the top of the fourth to pull to within four runs.
- Indiana State added two more in the bottom of the fourth, pushing the lead to 8-2.
- In the fifth, Bri Avery scored from third on a passed ball.
- The Sycamores matched the run in the bottom half and led, 9-3.
- Butler scored one in the sixth when Monique Hoosen came in from second on a Dorsett single. Then, Kinley Longest homered, pulling the Bulldogs to within four, at 9-5.
- Indiana State plated two more in the bottom of the sixth to increase the lead to 11-5.
- Butler loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the seventh but could not push anyone across.

Alyssa Graves (1.1 IP, H, R, ER, K) started for Butler. She was relieved by
Madison Seigworth (0-2) who took the loss. In 4.2 innings, Seigworth allowed eleven hits, ten runs (eight earned), and four walks, striking out three.

Butler will travel to Queens, N.Y., for a BIG EAST series with St. John's from April 8-10. Games are scheduled for Friday at 1pm, Saturday at 12pm, and Sunday at 11am.
