The Butler women will look to continue their hot start to the 2022-23 season this weekend at the Nittany Lion Invitational.

The event, hosted by Penn State, is slated for Saturday and Sunday in University Park, Pa.

THE PLAYERS: Coach Christie Cates will utilize a line-up of Reese Wilson, Kelli Scheck, Katie Steinman, Lily Celentano, and Alaina Bowie.

Wilson, Scheck and Celentano made their Butler debuts last weekend at the Redbird Fall Invitational. For Bowie, the event will be the season debut for the sophomore as she didn't take part at Illinois State.

Wilson's individual title in the opening weekend of the season earned her Co-BIG EAST Golfer of the Week honors.

A WEEK AGO: Wilson captured medalist honors at the Redbird Fall Invitational with a three-stroke victory and a 1-under-par score of 215. She opened the tournament with a 3-under 69 before carding rounds of 73 and 73. Her 69 tied for the best score in the tournament.

Wilson's win came in her first competition as a Bulldog. She spent her freshman campaign at Howard before transferring to Butler.

Scheck gave Butler a second player near the top of the leaderboard as she finished in a tie for fourth at 219 (+3).

The Bulldogs also claimed the team title by a single stroke over Eastern Kentucky. Butler entered the final round with a three-shot advantage and held on to that lead down the stretch. The Bulldogs finished at 898 (+34), which was one shot better than the Colonels (899). Loyola was third at 903. There were a total of 15 teams in the field. Butler shot 304 (+16) in Monday's final round, following up Sunday scores of 298 and 296.

Eastern Kentucky and Bradley will join the Bulldogs as part of the field at both last week's Redbird Fall Invitational and this weekend's Nittany Lion Invitational.

THE TEAMS: The Bulldogs will be joined in the 16-team field by host Penn State, BIG EAST rival Seton Hall, Boston College, Bradley, Bucknell, Central Michigan, Columbia, Eastern Kentucky, High Point, Kennesaw State, Navy, Richmond, Toledo, Towson, and Youngstown State.

FAMILY REUNION: Scheck's sister, Katie, is a sophomore at Penn State.

THE COURSE: The par-72 Penn State Blue Course will be set up at 6,402 yards for the event.

THE SCHEDULE: Play will feature 36 holes on Saturday, beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.; Sunday's championship round will feature an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
