BROOKINGS, S.D. -- #3 South Dakota State handed Butler their first loss of the season under the lights at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium on Saturday night in front of 16,414 fans. The 45-17 result moved each team's overall record to 2-1.

Luke Wooten scored the first TD of his Butler career against the Jackrabbits on a 56-yard pass from
Bret Bushka in the first quarter to tie the game at 7-7 with 7:49 on the game clock. The six-play drive covered 75 yards in just 3:17.

Butler's second touchdown of the game came on another six-play drive.
Bret Bushka found the end zone for the Bulldogs on a two-yard TD run. Before the fourth quarter TD, BU was able to add points off the leg of
Luka Zurak. The redshirt-senior remained perfect on the year by connecting on a 33-yard attempt.

SDSU scored 14 points in the first, second and fourth quarters to come out on top. Mark Gronowki was fantastic under center for the Jackrabbits throwing for three touchdowns. The QB also opened up the scoring on Saturday night with a 1-yard TD run.

The three SDSU TD passes went to three different receivers. Jadon Janke had the most complete game of any player with five grabs for 87 yards and a score. On the ground, Isaiah Davis took 11 handoffs to gain 74 yards. Amar Johnson and Rudy Voss would also add rushing TD's for the home team.

On defense, Butler was led by cornerback
Will Mason and his team-high eight tackles.
Nick Bafia was also credited with six stops for the 'Dawgs.

Butler's bye week falls on September 24th giving the Bulldogs two weeks to prep for their 2022 PFL opener at Davidson on Oct. 1. Kick-off is set for 1 PM.
