INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer team controlled many aspects of the match against No. 22 Wisconsin on Sunday. The Bulldogs held the advantage in possession and led in overall shots, shots on goal, and corner kicks. The visiting Badgers (3-1-2), however, put two balls into the back of the net and stymied the (rv) Bulldogs (3-2) from doing the same. Butler had numerous quality opportunities, with several balls across the face of the Wisconsin goal, but the Badgers were able to get the touches and saves they needed to prevent the Bulldogs from finishing and, ultimately, held on for a 2-0 victory.
Key Moments
- 9' | Wisconsin's Maia Richters slots a ball into the left side of Butler's box to Natalie Viggiano. Viggiano's left-footed shot ricochets off the far post and into the net to put the Badgers up, 1-0.
- 25' | A Butler foul inside the penalty area sets up an Emma Jaskaniec penalty kick to the back right corner of the net, giving Wisconsin a two-goal margin.
