Five @ButlerSoftball Players Earn Academic All-District Honors from College Sports Communicators

Five student-athletes on the Butler women's softball team – Sydney Carter, Paige Dorsett, Mackenzie Griman, Kaylee Gross, and Ella White – have been recognized by College Sports Communicators as Academic All-District®.
 
The 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early June.
 
Carter, a sophomore from Mason, Ohio, appeared in 52 games this season, starting 49. She was selected to the 2023 All-BIG EAST First Team after leading the Bulldogs with a .389 batting average in conference play. The second baseman is a Sports Media and Strategic Communication major.
 
Dorsett, a redshirt-sophomore from Martinsville, Ind., started 45 of the 46 games in which she appeared. Over the season, she led Butler with a .366 average, 10 doubles, and 30 RBI and was selected to the 2023 All-BIG EAST Second Team. The first baseman is a Political Science and Criminology major.
 
Griman, a senior from Mishawaka, Ind., was the primary starter in the circle for the Bulldogs, attaining nine wins and pitching 14 complete games. She tallied 82 strikeouts over 151.1 total innings and earned 2023 All-BIG EAST Second Team recognition. The recent graduate majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry and Spanish.
 
Gross, a redshirt-sophomore from Indianapolis (Decatur Central), appeared in all 53 this season, starting 50. In BIG EAST games, she led the team with 15 runs and nine stolen bases and was third with a .357 batting average. The outfielder is a double major, focusing on both Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Psychology.
 
White, a sophomore from Noblesville, Ind., started all 53 games the Bulldogs played this season. She led the team with 30 walks, 30 RBI, and two triples, and she had the most doubles (4) in BIG EAST games. The utility player is majoring in Middle & Secondary Education and is pursuing minors in Human Movement and Health Science, Recreation and Sports Studies, and Sport Coaching.
