Zegarski Leads Bulldog Men to Third Place Finish at Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational

The Butler cross country team returned to action at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Friday. The Bulldog men made the podium taking third while the women finished in 15th as a team.

William Zegarski led the way for Butler in his season debut placing in the top 10 at 23:08.25. Austin Gabay followed in 21st at 23:36.54 while Florian Le Pallec rounded out the top 25 finishes in 24th at 23:43.07.

David Slapak was the fourth Bulldog across the line 31st at 23:50.60 while Sean Byrnes and Luke Henseler finished side-by-side in 40th (23:58.82) and 41st (23:59.25) to round out the scoring.

The last three finishers for Butler included Martin Kovacech (47th, 24:07.80), Matteo Rosio (66th, 24:17.70) and Joe Barrett (89th, 24:36.00).

On the women's side, Wiktoria Klebowska was the first to cross the finish line for the Bulldogs placing 42nd at 20:39.15.

Ashlyn Minton and Hannah Moore each finished in the top 100 with Minton recording a time of 21:16.84 to take 89th while Moore followed at 21:19.73 in 96th.

Rounding out the scorers for the women included Renate Toldo (105th, 21:28.01, Elsa Rusthoven (108th, 21:30.71) and Kylie Cline (123rd, 21:47.86).

The cross country season is ramping up for the Bulldogs as they get set to compete on Oct. 18 at the Bradley "Pink" Classic in Peoria, Ill. on the Newman Golf Course.
