HUNTSVILLE – The Butler Baseball team moved to 2-2 on the year after collecting a 19-6 win over Alabama A&M on Saturday. The Bulldogs scored 14 runs over the first three innings of the game and would end the day with 14 hits.
Zach Munton made the game 6-0 in the first inning after hitting a two-run home run for BU. Solo homers followed in the second frame from
Joey Urban and
Kade Lewis.
The Bulldogs increased their lead to 14-0 in the third after scoring six more runs off four hits. RBIs went to
AJ Solomon, Urban, and
Carter Dorighi. The sixth was highlighted by a two-RBI triple by Lewis.
Lewis and Urban provided BU with a powerful one-two punch in the lineup. Urban ended the day 3-for-6 from the dish with four RBI and three runs scored. Lewis played third on Saturday and went 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored.
Joining Munton with two RBI in the game were
Evan Parks and
Billy Wurch.
Tyler Banks was one of four pitchers to see live action for BU on the mound. He was credited with the win as the game ended after seven innings due to the run-rule. Banks (1-1) struck out two and limited AAMU to just two hits over four innings.
Shane Kilfoyle,
Colin Dailey and
Tate Foxson all threw one inning each. Kilfoyle and Dailey struck out two of the three batters they faced.
The Bulldogs will be back at it tomorrow with a 2 PM ET start looking for the series sweep
