@ButlerSoftball Drops Game Three of Series with Georgetown

WASHINGTON D.C. – The Butler softball team finished a three-game series with Georgetown, winning two games to one, after dropping the third game on Sunday by the score of 7-4. The Hoyas (11-25, 2-13 BIG EAST) led from the second inning on, though the Bulldogs (19-22, 8-10 BIG EAST) cut the gap to one run with a four-run fourth inning.

Game 3: Georgetown 7, Butler 4 (7 innings)

In the bottom of the second inning, Georgetown scored two runs, one on a passed ball, and the second on a sacrifice fly. One inning later, the Hoyas put three more on the board, sparked by a Davanara Campos two-run home run. Georgetown led, 5-0, after three complete.

In the top of the fourth, Butler drew consecutive walks. Monique Hoosen then hit a three-run home run the pulled the Bulldogs to within two runs, forcing the Hoyas to make a pitching change. The Dawgs weren't finished. With runners on second and third, Cate Lehner hit an infield single that pushed Teagan O'Rilley across. Butler trailed, 5-4, with two innings to play.

In the fifth, Georgetown padded its lead. With the bases loaded, a double to left field sent two runners home. The Hoyas were now up, 7-4.

Butler advanced runners to second and third with two outs in the top of the seventh, but a final strikeout ended the game.
