Cate Lehner has been selected by the BIG EAST as its Player of the Week, and teammate
Katie Petran has been chosen Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday. Each student-athlete was chosen for her performance in last weekend's season-ending series at conference-champion Villanova. The Bulldogs won two of the three games, clinching a spot in the postseason BIG EAST Tournament.
Lehner, a sophomore, batted .667, accumulating eight hits over 12 at bats in three games vs. the Wildcats. The leadoff hitter had two RBI, was 2-for-2 stealing bases, and scored two runs herself.
Petran pitched a complete-game victory in game three of the series, allowing just one run on four total hits with two walks in 7.0 innings, and locking up the postseason berth for Butler. The freshman also made appearances in games one and two.

As the sixth seed, Butler will play its first game vs. the No. 3 seed Creighton on Wednesday, April 8. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm and can be viewed on FloSports/BEDN.
