Butler Nets Four in Win Over Visiting Aces

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler men's soccer team got back into the win column with a 4-1 victory over Evansville on Tuesday evening at the Sellick Bowl. The Bulldogs (3-1-2) scored a pair of goals before the break, then added one more before the Aces (4-2-0) scored their first. The final goal of the match, in the 85th minute, provided the three-goal winning margin for the Dawgs.
 
Key Moments
  • 9' | Ryan Hannosh has the ball on the right side and sends it into the area. Josemir Gomez settles in a crowd and attempts to set up a shot. The ball deflects off an Evansville defender, to the left, and José Angel Luna sends it to the back of the net. The Dawgs lead early.
  • 35' | Luca Raso plays a short ball forward, in the area, to Gomez. Gomez immediately hits a square ball in front of the goal, and Palmer Ault uses his left foot to give Butler a two-goal lead.
HALFTIME
  • 55' | Hannosh takes a shot in front of the goal that is blocked back to him. He volleys a shot right past the keeper. The Bulldogs lead, 3-0. 
  • 69' | Evansville serves a diagonal ball into the area that is headed into the air by a Butler defender. The Aces' Samuel Owusu, with his back to the goal, turns on the ball to his left and volleys it just inside the left post. The Bulldogs are still up two goals, 3-1.
  • 85' | Nick Okoro passes from the right side toward the center of the field. Peter Tolkin receives it and sends a square ball to an unmarked Luca Raso. Raso moves right and hits a shot from 20 yards out, between a pair of defenders, and just inside the right post. The lead is again three, at 4-1.
