Five Bulldogs scored in double figures, and 10 scored seven or more points, as Butler posted a 112-80 win over IU Indianapolis Saturday afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Jalen Jackson led the Bulldogs with 17 points and
Michael Ajayi registered his second consecutive double-double to start his Butler career with 11 points and 14 rebounds.

With the win, Butler is now 2-0 on the young season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Butler opened the game somewhat sluggish as the first six points belonged to the visiting Jaguars.
- The Bulldogs settled in and took their first double-digit lead (32-21) with 5:29 remaining in the first half.
- Butler led 51-38 at the half.
- Back-to-back baskets by Yohan Traore gave the Bulldogs a 20-point advantage (75-55) with 12:50 to play.
- The lead extended to 30 within the next three minutes.

- In addition to Jackson and Ajayi, Azavier "Stink" Robinson (13), Finley Bizjack (13) and Traore (11) also found double figures.
- Butler held a 59-32 rebounding advantage. The Bulldogs opened the season with a 56-35 rebounding edge over Southern Indiana.
- Ajayi is the first Bulldog to have back-to-back double-doubles since Manny Bates in November of 2022. Like Bates, the two double-doubles also came in Ajayi's first two games in a Butler uniform. Ajayi had nine rebounds in the first half of the season opener and had nine rebounds in the first half of Saturday's game against IU Indy.
- Butler had 64 points in the paint and had a 30-8 advantage in second-chance points.
- Butler scored 112 points despite making only five of their 24 three-point attempts.
- The Bulldogs went to the free throw line 43 times, making 29.
- IU Indy utilizes a system of full-court pressure and Butler was able to navigate it with 51-percent shooting despite 17 turnovers.
- Butler's 112 points are the most by the Bulldogs since scoring 144 in a win over The Citadel Nov. 14, 2015.
- Butler had 11 blocks in the game, the most by the Bulldogs since they also had 11 in a Nov. 19, 2022 win over The Citadel. Drayton Jones had a game-high three blocks.
- Matt Compas led IU Indy with 25 points on 20 attempts from the field.
- IU Indy shot 40 percent from the field, including just a 5-for-23 mark from three-point range.
- Butler is 84-5 in their last 89 home games against non-conference teams.Â
- Thad Matta is 26-4 at Hinkle Fieldhouse against non-conference opponents as Butler's head coach (which includes the 2000-01 season and since his return in 2022).
- Butler and IU Indianapolis (formerly IUPUI) have now played eight times; the Bulldogs have won all eight meetings.
