Louisville Outlasts Butler 15-11

The Louisville Cardinals handed Butler a 15-11 loss at Patterson Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Each club recorded 16 hits in the high scoring contest, but a five-run sixth inning for the Cards proved to be the difference.

10 Bulldogs touched the rubber in the midweek matchup. Tate Foxson got the start and Jack Griffiths took the loss. Nate Rosser and Colin Dailey were the only 'Dawgs to record a strikeout on the mound. Jack Bello had the longest outing of any BU pitcher. He recorded the final four outs of the ballgame.

Butler's offense got a lift from Jack Moroknek, Ian Choi, Danny Barbero and Harry Carr. Moroknek crushed a ball to right centerfield to give BU their first home run of the day. The other long ball came courtesy of Barbero in the eighth.

Harry Carr went 4-for-4 from the dish and scored two runs. Choi and Connor Sackett also provided BU with three hits each.

Louisville scored all 15 of their runs over the first six innings of the game. Butler jumped on the scoreboard with two in the second, four in the third and two more in the fourth before going quiet in the fifth and sixth. They added three over the final three frames but could not make up the ground.

The setback moves Butler to 3-4 on the year while Louisville runs to 6-1. Butler returns to action this weekend with a three-game series at Ohio.
