Doezema and Craft Shine Bright at the Blizzard Buster

OXFORD, OHIO—The Butler track and field team opened their outdoor track season at the Blizzard Buster on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs took first in two different events this weekend with one both on the men's and women's teams. Jenna Doezema won the 400-meter hurdles with a mark of 1:02.50 while Cabott Craft reached a mark of 14.22 meters in the men's triple jump to secure the victory in the event.

In the 3,000 meters, Ashley Learn also secured second at 10:07.39 and only five-hundredths of a second out of first. Camille El Baghlouli and Kylie Cline were just behind taking third and fourth at 10:16.84 and 10:17.65.

On the men's side, the trio of Charlie Schuman, Michael Dunagan, and Brendan Gomez went 3-4-5 in the 3,000 meters. Schuman earned the last spot on the podium at 8:38.77 while Dunagan and Gomez followed in 8:42.33 and 8:43.21.

Other top Bulldog performers included:
  • Mason Steinbraker took second in the men's 400-meter hurdles in a time of 57.83
  • Lairden Rogge earned third in the men's 400 meters at 52.79
  • Allie Minier took third in the women's 400-meter hurdles at 1:03.53.
  • Lily Wharton earned fifth in the women's 110 hurdles at 15.63
The Bulldogs will split up next weekend with half the team headed to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays from Mar. 27-29 while the rest of the team heads to St. Louis, Mo. for three different meets hosted by WashU and Saint Louis from Mar. 27-29.
