Forrester and McMahon Move Up Butler’s All-Time List at Day 1 of the Raleigh Relays

The Butler track and field team completed Day 1 at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina and the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Mo. on Thursday night. Matthew Forrester and Jack McMahon led the way, each earning new marks in the top five of Butler's all-time list.

Raleigh Relays - Day 1
Forrester placed fourth out of 213 competitors in the 5,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays. His mark was a new personal best and ranked fourth on Butler's all-time list at 13:30.40.

He was joined by Jesse Hamlin who made his 2025 debut finishing in 19th at 13:40.71. Austin Gabay was the other Bulldog to reach the sub-14 mark in the event earning a time of 13:52.19.

William Zegarski and David Slapak rounded out the Bulldog competitors in the 5K with Zegarski finishing with a time of 14:05.20 while Slapak followed at 14:35.27.

In the 10,000 meters, Jack McMahon also had himself a day posting a new personal best at 28:36.07 in 23rd. His mark moved up to fifth on Butler's all-time list in the event. Luke Henseler was just behind with a time of 29:42.85.

WashU Distance Carnival - Day 1
At the WashU Distance Carnival, Hannah Moore ran a sub-17 time in the women's 5,000 meters, tying her personal best at 16:58.93. She was also the fourth freshman across the line.

On the men's side, Brendan Thomas finished with the second-fastest time by a freshman in the event at 14:27.60. Fellow Bulldog Charlie Jones was just behind, placing third in Section 10 of the 5K at 14:51.20.

Matteo Rosio made his debut in 10,000 meters this season breaking 30 minutes with a mark fo 29:59.87. Asher Propst and Bredan Gomez followed with a times of 30:15.88 and 30:33.18.

Tomorrow night, Butler's Wiktoria Klebowska will compete in the women's 5,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays while the rest of the team toes the line in St. Louis for Day 2 of the WashU Distance Carnival and the first day of the SLU Speed and Power Meet.
