Bowling Green defeated Butler on Wednesday afternoon by the final score of 9-7. The Bulldogs had 14 hits compared to just six for the Falcons, but a five-run fourth inning helped BGSU improve to 31-16 on the year. The setback moves BU to 14-34.

Danny Barbero and
Logan Crock highlighted the day for Butler, combining for eight hits on the day. Barbero went 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Crock was 4-for-4 from the dish with an RBI.

The Bulldogs jumped on the scoreboard in the first inning after a
Ryan Drumm double scored
AJ Solomon. Barbero's first hit was a two-run homer to left center making the game 3-0.

Garrett Wright got the BGSU offense going in the fourth with a solo home run and the Falcons would go up 5-3 heading to the fifth.

Butler regained the lead by scoring three in the fifth. Barbero singled through the right side, Crock's RBI single went through the left side and a
Harry Carr groundout helped score the go-ahead run.

Bowling Green's second home run of the game tied the action at 6-6, but Barbero would counter with an RBI single in the sixth to make the game 7-6.

BGSU fought back and grabbed a one-run lead after the sixth and added an insurance run in the eighth to win 9-7. CJ Boudreaux was credited with the victory on the mound and Connar Penrod picked up the save.

The loss landed on
Alex Thomas for Butler. He pitched two innings after a nice start from
Jack Griffiths. Griffiths threw a career-high eight strikeouts over 3.2 innings.

Butler will have a quick turnaround as they prepare for their final BIG EAST series on the road. The team will play UConn this weekend. Game one on Friday is set for 6 p.m.
