Butler Opens Season with Win at Central Michigan

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Butler women's soccer team traveled to Central Michigan and came away with its first win of the season. The Bulldogs scored two goals in the final 15 minutes of play and held the Chippewas to only two shots, resulting in a 2-0 victory.

  • 21' | Talia Sommer sends in a corner kick to the far post. Chloe Brecht heads a shot toward the near post, but it is saved by the Chippewas keeper.
    HALFTIME
  • 53' | Lucia Englund sends a cross in from the left side. The ball is knocked around in the box and eventually corralled by Sommer. She creates a hard shot from 10 yards that is saved by Central Michigan.
  • 63' | Brecht sends a cross from the right side to the left sideline. Norah Jacomen receives the ball and hits a hard, low shot that is saved at the near post.
  • 75' | Central Michigan has a free kick from 30 yards out, along the right sideline. The direct shot to the far post is saved by a leaping Addison Ash.
  • 76' | Butler attacks from the midfield. Kate Malin sends a ball from the circle to Jacomen on the left side. Jacomen finds Leila Lister streaking to the front of the goal, and the ball is knocked past the Chippewas keeper for the 1-0 lead.
  • 84' | Jacomen travels with the ball down the left side and finds Lister in front of the goal. Lister drops a pass to Sommer at the top of the box. Sommer makes a move to the left and punches it in off the crossbar. Butler leads, 2-0.
