INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer team hosted Illinois State in its regular-season home opener and came away with a 5-1 victory. The Bulldogs (2-0) scored two in the first half and three more in the second, while the Redbirds (0-3), out of the Missouri Valley Conference, scored their only goal in the 56^th minute.

• 16' | A Butler throw-in from the right side deflects off an Illinois State defender and is headed toward the goal by Sydney Longo. Kate Malin collects it at the side of the goalie box and pushes it in front of the goal. Norah Jacomen is right there and punches it home. Dawgs lead, 1-0.

• 52' | Chloe Brecht throws the ball in from the right touch line, down toward the right corner. Leila Lister beats her defender to the ball and crosses into the area. Léa Larouche beats her defender and meets the ball near the far post, about eight yards out. Her volley goes directly in, giving the Bulldogs a three-goal cushion.
• 56' | Butler misplays a ball from the halfline towards its own goal, giving the Redbirds a one-on-one opportunity with the keeper. The visitors take advantage and reduce Butler's lead to 3-1.
• 56' | On the ensuing kickoff, Sommer sends a long ball to the right corner to a sprinting Leila Lister. Lister crosses to the center, and Alyssa Carlson is there to punch the ball in. The entire sequence takes eleven seconds.
• 63' | Sommer collects a pass on Butler's end of the field. She carries nearly half the length of the field, makes a move inside eluding a pair of defenders, and hits a shot from 18 yards that hits the upper right 90. It's 5-1 Dawgs.
