Butler Shuts Out Bowling Green

INDIANAPOLIS - The Butler men's soccer team defeated Bowling Green State on Sunday evening by the final score of 1-0. The Bulldogs (1-1-0) scored in the 75th minute and held off the Falcons (0-1-1) until the final whistle. Bowling Green, out the Missouri Valley Conference, played much of the match down a man due to a red card.

Key Moments
  • 12' | A Butler shot at an open net is blocked by a Bowling Green defender, but a red card is issued for handling a ball to prevent a goal. The subsequent penalty attempt sails over the crossbar, but the Falcons will play down a man for the remainder of the match.
HALFTIME
  • 65' | Bowling Green serves a long free kick from across the centerline. The ball is headed down by a Butler defender, but a Falcons attacker strikes a hard volley on frame from 18 yards. Aurie Brisco lays out and deflects the ball, which is ultimately cleared.
  • 75' | Bernardo Raposo sends a cross toward the far post from the right side. It deflects off a Bowling Green defender and down to the ground. Aiden Benitez collects the ball, makes a move to elude a defender, and sends the ball into the right corner of the net. Dawgs are up, 1-0.
  • 87' | A second red card is issued to a Falcon player, resulting in only nine men on the pitch.
