Butler Shuts Out IU Indy

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer team scored twice and kept IU Indy off the scoreboard in a 2-0 shutout on Thursday evening. The Bulldogs (3-2-1) scored once in each half and outshot the Jaguars (1-6-0) by a margin of 22-9.
 
Key Moments
  • 30' | IU Indy earns successive corner kicks. On the second one, a ball headed out leads to a shot on goal from 18 yards. The save is deflected and then cleared, leading to a second strike from 25 yards that sails over the crossbar.
  • 32' | Sydney Longo has the ball on the right side and finds Léa Larouche open in the middle. Larouche feeds Talia Sommer, who is sprinting toward a gap in the defensive line. Sommer's shot slides under the Jaguars keeper and just inside the right post. The Dawgs take a 1-0 lead.
        HALFTIME
  • 51' | Sommer takes a corner kick from the left side. Emily O'Malley gets a head on it, but the shot hits the crossbar and carroms back into play. Sydney Longo is right there and heads it back into the goal.
