Terre Haute, Indiana- Butler defeated Indiana State in 3 sets in their final match of the Refreshment Services Pepsi Sycamores Volleyball Invite. The Dawgs went 1-2 on the event moving their record on the season to 5-5.

• Alaleh Tolliver led Butler in kills with 19.
• Elise Ward tallied 12 kills and 12 digs. 
• Kaylee Finnegan orchestrated the Butler offense, she totaled 45 assists on the night.
• Lauren Evans led the Dawgs in digs with 17.

Set 1 Butler (25-23)
The first set saw Indiana State develop an early 10-6 lead. Two kills from Alaleh Tolliver and a kill from Sawyer Jones sparked a mini run for Butler and they found themselves trailing 9-10 in the early going. Later in the set a block assist from Ellery Rees and Sawyer Jones gave Butler a 19-18 lead. With the set tied at 23, back to back Elise Ward kills gave the Dawgs a 25-23 set 1 win. 

Set 2 Butler (26-24)
In the early stages of set 2, Alaleh Tolliver found four early kills helping Butler mount a 15-11lead. Butler held a small lead throughout the majority of the set, until Indiana State won two points in a row tying up the set at 24. An Elise Ward kill gave the Dawgs a one point lead, and then Lauren Evans fired an ace giving Butler a set 2 win.

Set 3 Butler (25-23)
Set 3 saw the Sycamores start hot, building an early 11-7 lead. A block assist from the duo of Kaylee Finnegan and Ellery Rees gave the Dawgs a 18-17 set 3 lead. The later stages of the set saw the team trade blows until Butler and Indiana State were tied at 23. An Alaleh Tolliver kill and then an Indiana State error gave Butler the match.   

Up Next
Butler will host the Butler Invitational next weekend. The event will take place at the Fishers Events Center. Butler will play IU Indy Friday night. Saturday they will take on Oakland and Eastern Michigan.
