INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler men's soccer team and Akron staged an intense battle on Saturday night at the Sellick Bowl, and the match remained scoreless through 76 minutes of play. Finally, in the 77
th minute, the Bulldogs conceded a corner kick to the Zips. The service from the left side sailed just past the far post but was headed down, back in front of the goal, to a teammate's chest. The ball fell to the ground, and a fourth Akron player backheeled the ball into the goal from point-blank range. The 1-0 lead held for the Zips (7-2-1, 1-1-0 BIG EAST) through full time.

Aurie Briscoe made a season-high five saves in the match. The Bulldogs (2-8-0, 0-2-0 BIG EAST) will next travel to DePaul for a BIG EAST road match on Friday, October 3.
