WASHINGTON, DC – The Butler softball team was unable to score in the first game of a BIG EAST series on the road at Georgetown, dropping the contest by the final score of 4-0. The Bulldogs (17-17, 9-7 BIG EAST) and Hoyas (15-17, 8-8 BIG EAST) are currently sitting fourth and fifth in the conference standings.
Georgetown used three singles, a walk, and a sacrifice fly to score two runs in the bottom of the first inning. One frame later, an error allowed the Hoyas to score a third.
In the fourth inning, Georgetown used a single followed by a double to make the score 4-0.
Katie Petran (7-6) pitched a complete game for Butler and took the loss. In 6.0 innings, she allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits and two walks. She struck out three.
