Butler Defeats IU Indy in Downtown Clash

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer team defeated IU Indy by the final score of 4-0 in a match played at Michael A. Carroll Stadium in downtown Indianapolis. The Bulldogs (3-2-1) scored a pair in the first half and added two more after the break. The Jaguars (2-4-1) generated 10 shots with three on frame but could not find the back of the net.

Chloe Brecht had two goals and an assist to lead the Butler offense. It was the first brace of her career.

Key Moments
  • 2' | Kensey Teffner collects a pass from a teammate after a bad clearance by IU Indy. She plays up the right side, finding the feet of Brecht. Brecht continues to push forward and sends a cross toward the near post. Riley Gumm is there and redirects the ball into the back of the net, giving Butler a very early 1-0 lead.
  • 15' | A quick shot by the Jaguars from 28 yards out is on target and saved by Butler's Addison Ash.
  • 25' | A long service forward by Lola Pepper is mishandled by the IU Indy keeper. Alyssa Carlson is right there and takes advantage of an open net from 18 yards out. The lead is now 2-0.
  • 39' | IU Indy shoots from distance, and Ash is only able to knock the ball down in front of her. Three Jaguars charge and reach the ball at the same time as Ash. A second shot is blocked out of bounds by Emma Hamelmann.
