Evanston, Ill. - The Northwestern Wildcats defeated the Butler Bulldogs 3-1 on Tuesday evening. With the loss, the Bulldogs are now 5-2 on the young season.
Bulldog Bites
- Jersey Loyer led the squad with 14 digs.
- Raegan Durbin recorded 13 kills, including four in the fourth set. She also totaled eight digs.
- Elise Ward tallied 10 kills, including four in the first set. She also tallied three blocks and one assist.
- Zoe McDonald recorded nine kills, posting three kills in both sets three and four. She also tallied three blocks.
- Sawyer Jones recorded seven kills, including three in set two. She also tallied two blocks and one assist.

"I was incredibly proud of our outside hitter play tonight. Raegan and Elise came out strong, and Northwestern never really found an answer. We weren't able to slow them down in the ways that we should have, and Northwestern had a massive size advantage but beat us by outworking us when it mattered."
Set 1 Northwestern (25-21)
Both sides traded points to open the set as the Wildcats took a narrow 15-13 lead at the halfway point of set one. The Bulldogs and Wildcats continued to trade points throughout the first set. It would be the Wildcats who would take set one 25-21.
Set 2 Butler (25-19)
The Bulldogs opened set two trailing the Wildcats but quickly turned it around to take a 15-13 lead at the halfway point of set two. The Bulldogs continued to put pressure on the Wildcats, not letting them crawl back into the set. And it would be Butler who'd take set two, 25-19.
Set 3 Northwestern (25-17)
Butler continued to trade points with the Wildcats to open set three, and the Wildcats took an advantage of 15-9 in the middle of the frame. The Bulldogs continued to fight to try and close the gap. It would be the Wildcats who would take set three 25-17.
Set 4 Northwestern (25-20)
The Bulldogs opened set four with a back-and-forth scoring battle, with the Wildcats taking a 15-13 edge midway through set four. The Bulldogs continued to fight back and came within one. However, it would be the Wildcats who'd close it out at take set four and match victory 25-20

Butler will return home to host Bellarmine on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Then the Bulldogs will travel to Louisville, Ky., to play Bellarmine on Saturday at 2 p.m.
