The Butler Dance Team is a part of the Butler Athletics Spirit Program, working closely with Butler cheer and mascots and the athletic bands program. The dance program is comprised of the 20 member BUDT Blue Team and the 12 member BUDT White Team.
BUDT practices from 7- 10 PM on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the fall and spring semesters. Routines consist of pom, jazz, and hip-hop style and are choreographed by the coach and team members.
For 2020-21, the Blue team will perform at all home football games and men's basketball games, campus events and community outreaches. The Blue Team will also travel to the men's BIG EAST basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden. The White team will perform at select home volleyball matches and all home women's basketball games. They will also travel to the women's BIG EAST tournament. The Blue and White teams will perform together at one football game, two home soccer matches and at the Kids Clinic and Alumni men's basketball games.
Additionally, all dancers participate in community service events, such as the JDRF Walk, the annual Special Needs Cheer and Dance Clinic, and BU Dance Marathon.
BUDT members are considered to be student-athletes and enjoy access to the academic center, Bulldog nutrition station, and athletic training. Dancers are eligible for the BUAD Honor Roll, recognizing athletes with a 3.25 GPA. For the 2019-2020 academic year, BUDT posted the highest cumulative GPA of all Butler Athletics teams.
