Will Marty threw for a career-high 314 yards, but it wasn't enough as Butler falls to 2-4. Marist is now 2-3 overall and 2-0 in Pioneer Football League play.

Marty connected on 23 of 42 attempts for the Bulldogs, with seven of those completions going to sophomore
Pace Temple. Those seven catches – all in the first half – accounted for 110 yards and a touchdown. Temple entered the contest leading the PFL in receiving yards.

Marist's Mike White matched Marty throw for throw, registering 393 yards on the afternoon. He had three touchdowns through the air.

Marty got the Bulldogs on the scoreboard first, connecting with tight end
Cord Collier on a 5-yard touchdown pass in the closing seconds of the first quarter. Marist answered on the first play of the second quarter as White found Juston Christian from 25 yards out.

Temple's 7-yard touchdown reception midway through the second quarter gave Butler a 14-6 lead before Marist capitalized on several Butler penalties and a turnover to score the final 14 points of the half.

The Bulldogs committed 13 penalties for 111 yards on the afternoon, with several negating big plays on both sides of the ball.

Butler re-took the lead, 21-20, with five minutes remaining in the third quarter as
Sam Schrader scored from one yard out. The quick four-play drive featured a 60-yard connection to Collier to set up the Bulldogs at the 1.

Marist converted a 45-yard field goal after an 11-play drive stalled with 10:40 to play, retaking the lead, 23-21. A Christian 37-yard touchdown catch with five minutes to play established the final score as Butler's final four drives ended with two punts and two turnovers on downs.

Neither team was able to muster much of a running game as Butler's defense held Marist to 55 yards on 33 attempts. The Bulldogs had 40 yards rushing on 24 carries.

Ethan Brunhofer had a game-high 12 tackles for Butler, which also got two sacks from senior defensive tackle
Jordan Ransone. The Bulldogs' special teams were able to block a Marist field goal attempt, a PAT, and a punt.
