"I'm really pleased with our effort tonight and how we shared the ball," said Butler coach Chris Holtmann. "We have some stiff tests upcoming, and we're excited to travel together for the first time. Hopefully out of these first four games, our guys have gotten a reinforced belief in our system and the importance of playing together on both ends."

The Bulldogs ended the first half with a 21-3 run to take a 50-24 halftime advantage. Butler then opened the second frame by making six of seven from the field (including 5-of-6 from three-point range) to build a 40-point lead at 68-28 with 13:12 to play. The lead would grow to as many as 45.

Avery Woodson had 15 points on five triples in just 12 minutes of play. He opened the second half with four three-pointers in the first 5:30 of play. Kelan Martin and Andrew Chrabascz each had 11 points in limited action, while freshman Joey Brunk added a career-high 10 points off the bench.

Fowler's night included a 6-of-7 performance from the field and a team-leading and career-best seven rebounds. Tyler Lewis had eight assists, including seven in the opening half. Twelve of the 13 players who saw action Monday night contributed to the 26 assists.

Butler limited Norfolk State to 31-percent shooting and forced the visitors into 15 turnovers. Jonathan Wade and Micah Goss each had 13 points for NSU.

Butler travels to Las Vegas for the remainder of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational. The Bulldogs will meet Vanderbilt Thursday night at 8 p.m. (Eastern). Butler will then play either Arizona or Santa Clara on Friday. Both games will be broadcast nationally only FS1.
