Box Score 2 Butler finished a weekend of game in Nashville with an 11-1 decision over host Tennessee State Sunday night. The Bulldogs dropped an earlier contest to Northern Kentucky, 7-5. With the results, Butler is 3-6 on the season.
The Bulldogs scored in four innings and had nine hits in the game. Maggie MacBeth went 3-for-4 at the plate, including a triple. She scored three runs en route to a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Brandyce Sallee went 2-for-3 and knocked in two. Kaitlin Doud had three RBIs.
Mikeila Boroff went the distance, allowing five hits while striking out four. She is now 1-1 on the season.
In the earlier game, Butler fell to Northern Kentucky, 7-5. Six of NKU's runs came in the bottom of the third as they took a 6-2 lead. Butler scored two in the top of the seventh but couldn't complete the rally.
MacBeth had three hits and two RBIs in five plate appearances. Alyssa Lach had three hits. Cheyenne Thompson and Audrey Hiner each had two hits.
Charlie Nolen got the win for NKU, which also got a homerun from Alina Maher. Doud took the loss (0-3) for Butler.
The Bulldogs return to action with four games next weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C. The first pitch is Friday with games against Fairfield and host North Carolina.
