Butler and Miami (Ohio) split a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at the Butler Softball Park. After dropping the first game 12-3, the Bulldogs rebounded to win the second game, 5-4. With the decisions, Butler is now 15-12 on the season.  

A five-run fifth inning propelled the Bulldogs to a win in the second game of the twinbill. Sarah Dixon cleared the bases with a three-run triple. Brandyce Sallee followed with an RBI double. She scored on Kaitlin Doud's single to left. All of the damage was done with two outs.

Seven Bulldogs had one hit in the game.

Doud got the win in the circle, relieving Mikeila Boroff. Doud went four innings, allowing four hits and one run. Kristin Gutierrez, who started the opener, came in to pitch the seventh and pick up her second save of the season.

In the opener, Butler put up three runs in the bottom of the first. Maggie MacBeth walked to open the frame and was scored on a Sallee double to right field. Doud then stepped to the plate and belted a two-run homer to center field.

Miami rebounded with two in the top of the second to tie the game at three before putting up four runs in the third. The only other scoring came with five runs in the top of the seventh for the final margin.

Sallee had three hits. Gutierrez, the reigning BIG EAST "Pitcher of the Week", got the start and took the loss. She is now 6-5 on the season.

The Tuesday doubleheader was Butler's only scheduled action of the week. The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday, March 22 at Eastern Illinois.
