Box Score Host DePaul used a four-run sixth inning to pull out a 5-1 win Sunday afternoon in Rosemont, Ill., as the two teams closed out a three-game weekend series. DePaul improves to 10-1 in conference and 20-21 overall. Butler now stands at 23-18 overall and 6-5 in BIG EAST play.
The Blue Demons took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth before the Bulldogs answered with a single run in the top of the sixth inning. A Brandyce Sallee single scored Krosley Ogden for the Butler tally.
In the bottom of the frame, DePaul pushed four runs across on a Dylan Christensen two-run double and a Naomi Tellez single that scored two Blue Demons.
Mikeila Boroff got the start for Butler and allowed a single run in 4.2 innings of work. Kristin Gutierrez relieved her in the fifth and ended up taking the loss to fall to 9-10 on the season.
Ogden had two hits for Butler. DePaul had 12 hits.
Butler returns to action with a game at Purdue on Wednesday night. The 6 p.m. first pitch is the only action this week leading into the Bulldogs' final homestand of the season, hosting Creighton Saturday and Sunday for a three-game series.
