Butler opened the dual match portion of the season with a 4-0 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay Saturday morning in Indianapolis.
The Bulldogs and visiting Phoenix split results at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, but the top team from Butler,
Aviv Ben Shabat and
Ari Gerstein, was able to come away with a 7-5 win at the top spot over Matej Kostadinov and Miles McDowall to take the doubles point.
Butler got straight-set singles wins on courts 2, 3 and 4 to capture the match.
Mikheil Khmiadashvili defeated Kostadinov, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
Mason Dragos downed Josh Schramm, 6-4, 6-2, in the third spot, while
Spencer Lang posted a 6-0, 7-6 (3) win at No. 4 singles over McDowall.
The Bulldogs (1-0) return to action Tuesday, traveling to Ohio State for an 11 a.m. match in Columbus.
