INDIANAPOLIS – Butler will host a pair of games this week when Xavier and St. John's visit the Sellick Bowl. Thursday night's match vs. the Musketeers will kick-off at 7 PM. Free admission will be available for all fans courtesy of ButlerBulldogGear.com. Sunday's match will feature a 1 PM kick-off against St. John's. Soccer Sundaes once again include free ice cream for children 12 and under wearing their youth soccer jerseys. There will also be a pink t-shirt giveaway for all fans.

In The Polls
Following a 1-0-1 week, Butler continued to receive votes. The Bulldogs are unbeaten over their last 10 games, including a 2-0-1 league mark. GU is the top team in the Midwest Regional Poll, followed by Butler in sixth and Marquette in 14th. In the latest NCAA RPI, Georgetown continued to lead the league, coming in at No. 34, followed by Marquette at No. 45 and Butler at No. 58.
Monaghan Lands On BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Monaghan's week was highlighted by a three-point outing in Sunday's 2-1 double-overtime win at Providence. The junior scored the game's first goal in the 13th minute before assisting on
Caitlyn DiSarcina's game winner in the 109th minute to stretch the Bulldogs' unbeaten streak to 10 games.
Chasing History
Butler enters the month of October with 10 total shutouts. The school record for most shutouts in a single-season is 11, a total set by the 2012 team that ended the year 12-5-4 overall. The Bulldogs are also in range of setting a new school record in winning percentage as well as fewest goals allowed in a single-season. The best winning percentage in Butler women's soccer history came during the 2002 season when BU finished 15-6 overall (.714). Butler's winning percentage heading into Thursday night is currently at .833. The school record for fewest goals allowed belongs to the 2012 team. That season the Bulldogs limited the opposition to 15 goals. Butler has only allowed two goals this year after 12 matches. There are only six regular season matches remaining on the schedule.
Scouting Xavier
With six games still to play, Xavier has already matched its program record for most points (9) in the BIG EAST standings following its finest start (3-0) since joining the league. The Musketeers won their third consecutive conference tilt on Sunday, edging Villanova 1-0 to remain deadlocked in first place with reigning BIG EAST Champion No. 17 Georgetown. Sydney Schembri and Emma Westwater are the top scoring threats for the Musketeers. Schembri has a team-high five goals on the year, Westwater is right behind her with four. Goalkeeper Toni Bizzarro has 65 saves on the year to go along with a 1.12 goals-against average. Bizzarro has been credited with all seven wins and has three shutouts.
About St. John's
It has been an up and down season for the Red Storm in 2017. St. John's opened the year with a 4-1-1 overall record, but have now dropped five of their last six games to move to 5-6-1 on the year. STJ is 1-2 against conference opponents with a 1-0 double overtime win over Creighton mixed in with losses at #15 Georgetown (1-0) and most recently at home vs. Marquette (1-0). Christina Bellero is the focal point of the St. John's offense. The junior forward leads the team with five goals and two assists. No other player on the roster has more than one goal. The defense has featured two goalkeepers with Jordan Kamp logging the most minutes. Kamp is 4-3-1 with 33 saves. She has only allowed nine goals this year.

Butler will play at DePaul on Saturday, Oct. 14. The contest between the Bulldogs and the Blue Demons will stream live on BEDN with a 2 PM start. BU will stay on the road for a tilt at Creighton on Oct. 19. Their next home contest lands on a Sunday afternoon. BU will host nationally-ranked Georgetown on Oct. 22, a match that will serve as Senior Day.
