Box Score
Butler's rushing attack featured 253 yards and three different Bulldogs accounting for six touchdowns as the Bulldogs overpowered Morehead State, 44-6, Saturday afternoon at Jayne Stadium in Morehead, Ky.

Butler improves to 3-3 overall on the season and is now 1-2 in Pioneer Football League play. Morehead State is 2-4 (1-2 PFL).

Senior Duvante Lane had 99 yards rushing and three touchdowns. It was his backfield mate Anthony Scaccia who registered the first two touchdowns of the game, scoring from two yards and 19 yards in the first quarter as Butler built a 14-0 lead. Scaccia had 80 total yards (45 rushing and 35 receiving).

Lane's 32-yard touchdown run with 54 seconds remaining in the first half sent the teams into the locker room with the Bulldogs leading, 24-0. The lead grew to 44-0 early in the fourth quarter after a three-yard scoring run from Sam Schrader and two more touchdowns by Lane.

Behind the running game, Butler held the ball for 38:25 in the contest. The Bulldogs' defense attributed to that by causing seven fumbles (recovering five), grabbing an interception, and sacking the MSU quarterback four time. Those turnovers led to 20 Butler points.

Linebacker Xavier Colvin had two sacks, five tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Isaak Newhouse led the Bulldogs with nine tackles, while Zach Bacon and Ethan Brunhofer each added sacks. Bacon's resulted in a fumble, while Brunhofer caused two fumbles. Austin Lewis picked up the first interception of his Butler career in the closing minute of the game.

Will Marty threw for 176 yards, connecting with Pace Temple three times for 75 yards.

The Bulldogs had 25 first downs compared to 14 for the host Eagles and had a 437-230 advantage in total yards. Butler scored on five of six trips to the red zone, including four touchdowns.

The Bulldogs return to Indianapolis to host PFL foe Jacksonville Saturday (Oct. 14) at the Sellick Bowl. The game is scheduled for a noon kick-off.
