Butler capped play in Florida with a 3-1 win over Central Connecticut State Sunday morning. The Bulldogs have won four straight games and are now 11-11 on the season.
Butler went 4-1 in five games at the Under Armour Showcase.
CCSU pushed a run across in the top of the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Freshman
Kennedy Minko tied the contest with one swing in the fifth inning, sending a shot over the left field fence.
With two runners on,
Maggie MacBeth connected with a drive over the head of CCSU's center fielder. That scored both teammates on the basepaths and MacBeth was just inches away from an inside-the-park homer, but a well-executed relay clipped her at the plate and limited the Bulldogs to a 3-1 lead.
???????
Gabbi Schnaiter came in the circle in relief for the Bulldogs and got the win by holding the Blue Devils scoreless over the last few innings.
Butler returns to action Tuesday with a 5 p.m. first pitch at Miami (Ohio). The Bulldogs will play four games next weekend in Edwardsville, Ill., in an event hosted by SIUE as BIG EAST play quickly approaches.
