Butler dropped a mid-week game at Ball State in its final tune-up leading into BIG EAST play. The Bulldogs open conference play Saturday at home against DePaul.

The Bulldogs are 11-16 on the season.

Ball State jumped out with three runs in the bottom of the first en route to a 10-2 win in six innings.

Butler had single wins in the third and fifth innings. Sarah Dixon had two of Butler's three hits and drove in a run. She had her fifth double of the season.

Mikeila Boroff got the start for Butler. Kaitlin Doud, Gabbi Schnaiter and Kacey Starwalt all saw time in the circle. Only five of the 10 runs allowed by the Butler pitching staff were earned.

Saturday's doubleheader begins at 11 a.m. in Indianapolis. There is also a single game on Sunday that will air on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
