Butler picked up a 5-2 win over crosstown foe IUPUI Tuesday afternoon in downtown Indianapolis. The Bulldogs got home runs from Christina Candotti and Kaitlin Doud in the win.

Butler improves to 13-17 with the win.

Mikeila Boroff picked up the win (3-4), allowing two runs in four innings of work. Kacey Starwalt pitched the final three innings to pick up the save.

Butler scored two runs in the top of the first. An IUPUI error scored the first run and then Alyssa Lach singled down the left field line to knock in the second.

IUPUI got a solo home run in the bottom of the second to pull within one at 2-1. Candotti answered in the next frame with a solo shot to right center. It was the second blast of the season for the freshman.

Once again, a solo homer would pull the host Jaguars within one at 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth. But, the Bulldogs would get a drive over the right-field wall to score two runs in the top of the fifth off the bat of Doud. It was Doud's first home run of the season.

IUPUI is now 13-18 on the season.

Each team had eight hits and two errors in the game. Jenna Foreman had two hits for the Bulldogs.

Butler returns to action this weekend with a three-game series against Villanova. The Bulldogs host a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday.
