@ButlerSoftball Travels to Seton Hall for Key BIG EAST Series

The Bulldogs head to Seton Hall this weekend for their final BIG EAST road series of the season. Game times are set for noon on Saturday and Sunday, featuring a doubleheader on Saturday. Seton Hall will have a video stream of the contests and those links are available on ButlerSports.com.

Butler enters the series with a 6-8 BIG EAST record (18-26 overall), good for fifth in the eight-team conference. The top four teams qualify for the BIG EAST Tournament in May, placing Butler right in the mix, just 1.5 games behind fourth-ranked Creighton with all teams having six scheduled BIG EAST contests remaining. Seton Hall is a half-game behind Butler in the standings at 6-9.

The Bulldogs look to continue their offensive momentum after a 10-7 win against Creighton Sunday, which broke a nine-game losing streak. The game included four home runs by the Bulldogs. Butler entered Sunday's game with 17 home runs for the entire season

Kennedy Minko's three-run homer in the third inning put the freshman's total at four, just one shy of team leader Sarah Dixon and boosts her slugging percentage to .477. Minko has safely reached base four games straight.

Brandyce Sallee's 2-for-3 performance Sunday gave her the team lead in batting average, posting a .363 while teammate Jenna Foreman follows closely behind at .362. Those numbers put both Bulldogs in the top ten among conference players. Sallee had a streak of 24 straight games reaching base via a hit or walk to begin the season. Injuries have kept her out of a few games throughout the series, appearing in 32 games and all 14 conference contests.

Foreman's batting average of .362 in conference play leads the team. The leadoff hitter is tied for fifth in the BIG EAST with 46 hits and has recorded 15 multi-hit games. Foreman has stolen 24 bases, good for second in conference. She has only been caught five times this year, and is 11-for-12 stealing against conference opponents.

Foreman's performance led to recognition as the BIG EAST Player of the Week April 3 after batting .846 for the week, including going 9-for-10 in the three-game series against Villanova.

Dixon, who received BIG EAST Player of the Week in the beginning of the season, adds power to the lineup with a .522 slugging percentage. The junior leads the team in runs scored (29), RBIs (23), doubles (7), triples (2), and home runs (5). Dixon has totaled 14 multiple-hit games and five multiple-RBI games.

After starting the season in the outfield, injuries to teammates have forced Dixon to shortstop. She is the only Bulldog to start all 44 contests this season.

With a .331 batting average, Dixon rounds out several teammates hitting over .300. The list includes Sallee, Foreman and Madi Christiansen. Christiansen was 2-for-4 in the last game against Creighton and is batting .316 overall. The freshman also leads the team with 20 walks.

Kaitlin Doud is coming off a 3-for-3 performance Sunday, including her third home run of the season. She leads the team with six multiple-RBI games. As a pitcher, Doud is 3-3 in conference play and holds and overall ERA of 3.89 over 24 appearances.

Mikeila Boroff's 2.67 ERA in conference play leads the team and has limited opponents to 23 hits. Freshman Gabbi Schnaiter leads with six wins on the season (25 appearances). Her 59 strikeouts put her in the BIG EAST's top ten.

Following the series with Seton Hall, the team will play Notre Dame in South Bend on May 3. The Bulldogs host Georgetown May 6-7 for the final BIG EAST contests of the regular season.
