@ButlerSoftball Continues BIG EAST Play at Providence

Indianapolis- The Bulldogs head to Providence for a three-game weekend series beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon, followed by a game played at noon on Sunday to conclude the weekend.

Last time out, Butler played against Indiana State on Wednesday before weather resulted in an incomplete game. The Bulldogs held the lead through four innings of play.

Overall, Butler is 16-17 on the season and holds a five-game winning streak. The team is off to a 4-1 start in conference play after posting a 1-1 record against DePaul and sweeping Villanova last weekend. The home series against Villanova featured Butler's second three-game sweep since joining the BIG EAST prior to the 2014 season. The last was in 2015 against Georgetown.

Jenna Foreman highlighted Sunday's 9-5 win, going 4-for-4 and 9-for-10 over the weekend. Her work earned BIG EAST Player of the Week Honors April 3. Foreman was a threat at the plate and on the bases, safely stealing six bases in six attempts. Defensively, the sophomore added three outfield assists in four games. She ranks in the Top 5 in the BIG EAST in batting average, hits, runs and stolen bases.

Sarah Dixon adds power at the plate, leading the team with a .525 slugging percentage and 18 RBIs. Across the board, Dixon tallies the highest numbers in doubles, triples and home runs, hitting three long balls.

Senior Brandyce Sallee enters the weekend on a three-game hitting streak. Behind Foreman, Sallee is second with a .397 batting average.

Teammate Alyssa Lach comes off a quality series against Villanova. The infielder hit two doubles to account for three of Butler's nine runs on Sunday.

Butler pitcher Mikeila Boroff, who went 3-0 against IUPUI and Villanova, was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Her ERA of 3.89 through 16 appearances is second behind Kaitlin Doud. Boroff boasts a 5-4 record this season.

Also in the circle, freshman Gabbi Schnaiter leads the team with 14 starts and was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week March 21. Schnaiter tallied 44 strikeouts and 81 innings pitched for the team lead.

Providence currently sits 10-18 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. The Friars are on a two-game winning streak after defeating Georgetown 9-6 and shutting out Brown University 10-0.

Nicole Lundstrom currently leads the team at the plate with a .360 batting average along with 26 runs and four home runs. Emma Lee has also come up big for the Friars with a batting average of .356 as well as contributing 21 runs and 10 RBIs.

Live stats and a video stream will be available for weekend games.
