EAST LANSING, Mich. – Butler found the win column for the first time this season with an impressive 1-0 road victory at Michigan State on Thursday night. Freshman
Caitlyn DiSarcina scored the game-winning goal for BU off an assist from
Paige Monaghan. DiSarcina found the back of the net just two minutes into the second half off a rebound.
With the win, Butler moves to 1-1-1 on the young season. This contest marked their third-straight away from the Sellick Bowl, and their second overall shutout.
BU went with freshman goalkeeper
Leonie Doege against the Spartans. Doege would once again shine during her opportunity, shutting out MSU over a full 90 minutes of action. She made six saves, four of which came in the second half.
The shot total favored the home team 11-9, but the Bulldogs won the corner kick battle 7-2.
Halle Stelbasky led Butler with six total shots. MSU's top threat was forward Alexis Warner who ended the game with four.
Butler will return to Indianapolis to host Bowling Green this Sunday in the 2017 season opener. Kick-off is slated for 1 PM.
