Monaghan Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Monaghan was unstoppable last week, totaling seven points in wins over Chicago State and RV Marquette. The junior registered a pair of assists in Thursday's lopsided win over the Cougars before having a hand in all three goals in Sunday's victory over the Golden Eagles. Monaghan scored what would be the game winner in the 13th minute before assisting on Gabrielle Lemkuil's insurance score in the 55th, then completed the offensive output with another strike in the 77th. For the season, Monaghan has 10 points off three goals and four assists.

Leonard Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Leonard led the Bulldogs to back-to-back shutout victories last week, beginning with a 10-0 win over Chicago State on Thursday followed by a 3-0 win over RV Marquette in Sunday's BIG EAST opener. RV Butler outshot its opponents 49-10 last week, including a 28-3 margin in strikes on goal. Butler's shutout streak has been extended to over 806 minutes while stretching its winning streak to eight games.

In The Polls
Butler once again doubled its vote totals, moving up to the third team just outside the top 25 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs own a BIG EAST best eight-game winning streak, all in shutout fashion. In the season's second installment of the NCAA RPI, the Hoyas continued to lead the league, coming in at No. 35, followed by the Golden Eagles at No. 39, Butler at 42 and Providence at 66.

Chasing History
Butler heads into the weekend with nine total shutouts. The school record for most shutouts in a single-season is 11, a total set by the 2012 team that ended the year 12-5-4 overall. Butler played in the Atlantic 10 Conference in 2012. That was also the first season where Tari St. John and Rob Alman served as co-head coaches.

Defense Wins Championships
The 2017 team has only allowed one goal over the first 10 matches of the season, accomplishing a feat that no other team in BU history can match. Butler leads the NCAA with a 0.974 save percentage and ranks 2nd in the NCAA with a 0.098 goals-against average. Butler and Rutgers head into the weekend tied as the national leader in shutout percentage at 0.900.

Scouting The Opposition
Seton Hall is still in search of their first win of the season, yet they were able to tie DePaul 1-1 in their first conference game moving them to 0-6-3 overall. Cassy Harrigan is the top scoring threat on the team with two goals. The Pirates only have six goals on the year while allowing 16. Goalkeeper Anna MacLean has 35 saves over nine games. The Friars got off to a slow start, but have won five-straight to improve to 6-4 on the year. A balanced scoring attack features 12 different student-athletes with at least one goal. PC has not allowed a goal over their last three wins, including a 1-0 decision vs. Villanova.

Up Next
Butler will return to the Sellick Bowl next week with a pair of home matches. The 'Dawgs will host Xavier on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7 PM. The weekend will come to a close with a 1 PM match against St. John's on Sunday. Each game will stream on Facebook Live.
