Box Score
For the second straight match in Bloomington, the Bulldogs came away with a thrilling 3-2 win in the final minutes of the contest. On Sunday afternoon, No. 17 Butler topped San Francisco, just as they had done against South Florida Friday night as part of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic hosted by Indiana University.
Sophomore
Brandon Guhl got the Bulldogs on the board in the fourth minute, taking a long through ball, gathering it 10 yards from the goal and finding the net from four yards out.
Michael Peay and
Isaac Galliford were credited with assists on the play.
Guhl would supply an insurance goal in the 79
th minute that gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead and seemed to put the match on ice.
Lewis Suddick assisted on that goal.
However, San Francisco would not go quietly as Leon Schwarzer and Sean Bowman netted goals in the 81
st and 83
rd minutes to tie the match at 2-2.
Butler responded with quick pressure and just 102 seconds after San Francisco's second goal,
Kieran Geldenhuys scored the game-winner, heading home a corner kick from Suddick. It was the junior's first goal since his freshman season at Butler and only the second of his collegiate career.
With the win, Butler improves to 3-1 on the season and takes both of their contests as part of the tournament in Bloomington.
San Francisco actually had a 15-13 advantage in shots. Suddick had five shots to lead the Bulldogs.
Butler keeper
Eric Dick had three saves in the contest, registering the win.
