Annika Schmidt has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Second Team, CoSIDA announced Thursday, Nov. 8. The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Schmidt, a redshirt junior, started all 20 games in the Bulldog back line this season, anchoring a defense that posted nine shutouts, earning her All-BIG EAST First Team Honors. The defender scored two goals this season, including one in the Bulldogs' 3-2 win over Providence in the BIG EAST Semifinal. Schmidt was honored twice this season as the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. Off the field, Schmidt is a Sports Media major with a 3.97 cumulative GPA. 

The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third team (if necessary) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
