KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The weekend series between Butler and Western Michigan is now knotted up at 1-1 after the Broncos posted a 4-1 win over BU on Saturday afternoon. Western Michigan scored a run in each of the first three innings to build their lead. Butler got on the board with a sac fly in the top of the fifth.
Zach Jarosz hit a one-out single back up the middle of the diamond in the fifth to get on base. He moved into scoring position after a
Tyler Houston single and would score off a deep fly ball to right field from
Gehrig Parker.
Jarosz ended the game 2-for-4 from the plate with the lone run scored. Houston was also in the box score with two hits. BU ended the contest with just five total.
Andrew Reisinger was credited with the win while the loss fell to
Garrett Christman (2-3). Butler used seven total arms in the setback. Christman was removed from the game after three full innings.
Josh Walker tossed 2.1 innings out of the pen and
Austin Waeghe would record the final two outs of the contest.
The series will be decided tomorrow. First pitch is slated for 2 PM.
