KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Butler baseball team improved to 15-3 on the year after picking up a 13-3 win at Western Michigan on Sunday afternoon. The 'Dawgs scored 13 runs off 12 hits.
Tyler Houston led the way going 4-for-6 from the plate. He recorded seven RBI and scored three runs.
Houston was just one RBI shy of tying the Butler school record. David Carr posted eight RBI vs. Indiana Tech during the 1999 season and Paul Beck matched that effort vs. Bradley back in 2003.
Houston's first RBI on the day came off a double to right in the fourth inning. He returned to the plate in the fifth to record three RBI off a double to left and his final three RBI would come in the ninth after a home run.
Butler played from behind early as Western Michigan scored two in the first off a double to center.
Zach Jarosz would knot the score at 2-2 in the second with a single back up the middle of the field.
Gehrig Parker made the game 3-2 in the third with a double to center that scored Houston. Butler increased their lead to 5-2 in the same frame thanks to the Christman brothers.
Garrett Christman tripled to right to score Parker and
Connor Christman would hit a deep sac fly to right that scored Garrett.
Houston and Parker once again generated runs in the fourth to push the game to 7-2. Houston scored Hewitt with a double to right and Parker would single to left center, sending Houston around to score.
Houston stayed hot in the fifth with a base-clearing double to deep left field. Hewitt, Jarosz and
Andy Bennett scored on the play. The final three runs came off one swing of the bat with Houston's first home run of the season.
Ryan Pepiot moved to 3-0 on the mound for the Bulldogs after tossing five full innings of baseball. The righty struck out seven and limited the opposition to just four hits.

JT Turley and
Jack Pilcher were responsible for one full inning of work out of the pen. Napoleon and Turley each struck out two of the three batters they faced to make quick work of the Broncos.
Butler's next game will come at Dayton on March 20. They return home the following day to host DePauw at 4 PM.
