Butler softball returns to action Friday, traveling to Memphis, Tenn. for four games. The Bulldogs are coming off a 2-3 weekend at the Bruin Classic and are currently 4-10 on the season.
Due to the weekend forecast, the schedule has been adjusted. The Bulldogs will now take on both in-state foe Indiana State and host Memphis on Friday, Tennessee State Saturday, and Bowling Green Sunday morning.
Outfielders
Jenna Foreman and
Alyssa Garcia lead Butler in batting. Foreman has started all 14 games and posted a .412 batting average with 21 hits and one RBI. She is also leading the team in stolen bases with nine on just 10 attempts.
Garcia has a batting average of .333 so far this season and a .412 on-base percentage. She has been successful on all three of her stolen base attempts. The junior has also scored three runs.
Christina Candotti (.304) is another Bulldog hitting better than .300.
Junior
Kaitlin Doud leads the team in RBIs with seven. She has six hits on the season, three of which are extra base hits and the team's only homerun.
In the circle, freshman
Alyssa Graves has started seven games for the Bulldogs. She has thrown two complete game shutouts (Iowa and Belmont) and has only given up nine earned runs in her 41.2 innings of work. Her 1.51 ERA and 39 strikeouts lead the team. In her best outing this season, Graves struck out 12 in Butler's 7-0 win against Belmont. The freshman earned BIG EAST weekly Honor Roll accolades for her performance as well.
Gabbi Schnaiter has appeared in six games for Butler, posting a 4.82 ERA in her 24.2 innings pitched. The sophomore threw a complete game shutout against North Florida Feb. 10, striking out three and giving up only three hits.
After their four-game weekend in Memphis, the Bulldogs travel to Tampa, Fla. for a Spring Break trip that features seven games in four days.
